Indiana American Water will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, beginning at 11 a.m. to announce plans for a $1.4 million solar energy project at its Newburgh Operations & Treatment Facility.
The event will be held at the construction site for the new solar facility at 5622 State Road 66, in Newburgh.
When it’s completed later this year, the solar array will provide enough power to meet the energy needs of the company’s water treatment facilities in the area.
It will abate nearly 500 tons of CO2 emissions, annually.
