Evansville, Ind. (WEHT) – Vanderbugh County Commissioners voted to approve Garmong Construction to oversee the jail expansion project.

Sheriff Dave Wedding says the company has worked on jails before and believes they are a good fit.

Consultants recently said 750 beds are needed to meet the needs of the jails growing population for the next 20 years.

Vanderburgh County officials are on board with the idea but continue to wait for a cost estimate until a final decision is made.
