WARRICK CO., Ind. (WEHT) — Authorities say an investigation has been opened after a crash left an 85-year-old victim dead in Warrick County. Deputies say the crash happened on SR 68 near Bethel Camp Road around 3:09 p.m. today.
The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office believes the driver was traveling westbound when they left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. According to authorities, a citizen who heard the crash pulled the driver out just before the car caught on fire.
A WCSO press release states the driver of the vehicle, Doyle E. Butts, died at the scene. We’re told no other occupants were in the car.
The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office says it was assisted by Pigeon Township Fire Department, Lynnville Fire Department, Lynnville Police, Ascension St. Vincent Warrick EMS, and the Indiana State Police. The Warrick County Coroner’s Office is also assisting in the investigation.
