EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office identified the victim of a motorcycle accident as 21-year-old Michael Wink.

The motorcycle collided with an SUV, authorities said.

Wink died at the scene, the coroner said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. in the area of Fischer Rd. and Deer Lake Dr.

First responders said an SUV was on top of a motorcycle in the roadway.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened because the SUV turned into the path of the motorcycle.

The force from the collision resulted in the driver being thrown from the motorcycle.

The driver of the SUV was uninjured.

The sheriff’s office said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, pending toxicology results.

The sheriff’s office says drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The crash shutdown Fischer Road between Orchard Road and Schenk Road for nearly three hours on Wednesday.
