Correctional officer allegedly assaulted inmate being transferred from Henderson

KNOX CO., Ind (WEHT) A Knox County correctional officer is accused of sexually assaulting a female inmate he was transporting her from the Henderson County Jail to Knox County.

Indiana State Police say Malyk Jawaun Johnson, 23, picked up the inmate from Henderson on February 17.

On the way to Vincennes, Johnson allegedly stopped at a gas station in Princeton and purchased a tobacco product for the inmate, and got back on the road. After they entered Knox County, that’s when the female inmate says Johnson sexually assaulted her.

Official charges were filed against Johnson on Wednesday. He is charged with sexual battery, official misconduct, and trafficking with an inmate.

Johnson is being held in the Pike County Jail.
