Crash involving vehicle hauling cattle closes Highway 41

Local News

A crash involving two vehicles and several cattle closed Highway 41 in Vanderburgh County overnight.

The crash happened early Wednesday morning at Highway 41 and Mount Pleasant Road.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said a cattle truck was going north on 41 when it collided with a car heading west on Mount Pleasant. Authorities don’t know what caused the two vehicles to crash.

Two people were taken to the hospital. Their condition has not been released.

The northbound lanes of Highway 41 at Highway 57 had to be shut down while crews worked to transfer the cattle to another truck. That process took several hours, as a few of the cows were removed at a time and taken to an unknown location.

We’re told that scene is now clear.
