EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Evansville firefighters had quite the battle on Wednesday morning on North Main St., responding to a fire at the old Charlie’s Food Mart just after 2:30 a.m.
Firefighters were met with heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof.
At one point, firefighters were called out of the building because of the danger.
There were no reports of anyone being injured.
Fire officials said the building was vacant and the utilities were cut off.
In a police report, an Arson investigator says the business was locked and the windows boarded up.
In the same report, an investigator said there were no witnesses that observed any activity prior to the fire.
The city has requested an emergency raze order.
