Firefighters respond to two fires in same shift

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Firefighters are responding to a fire in the 1900 block of W. Indiana St.

The house had been vacant for at least a couple of weeks.

No one was in the home at the time.

When firefighters arrived, there were flames everywhere.

The fire is now out.

The fire is being investigated as a possible arson.

The fire is believed to have started in the stairwell.

The house suffered moderate damage.

Same firefighters respond to separate fire

Firefighters also responded to a separate fire in the 1400 block of Fountain on Tuesday.

The responding firefighters worked their second fire after only being five hours into a 24-hour shift.

That’s two working fires for First Platoon. This one in the 1400 block of Fountain. They’re only 5 hours into a 24 hour shift!

Crews said a man was working on a car when the carburetor caught fire and spread to the rafters.

There was moderate damage to the house but no injuries.
