EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Crews are on the scene of a house fire in the 500 block of Meyer Ave.
The fire was at the back of the home in a bedroom.
There were people home at the time.
They were able to get home just fine.
Fire crews said the family believes a lamp tipped over and started a fire in the back bedroom.
That fire went up the wall and into the attic.
It spread in the attic.
When firefighters arrived, they got the fire out, but they had to cut holes in the roof to fight the fire in the attic.
Firefighters were able to rescue pets that were in the home.
