One person rushed to the hospital after shooting at McDonald’s drive thru in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Evansville Police say one person was shot in the drive thru at the McDonald’s at Washington and HWY 41. It happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday. The victim was shot while sitting in their car at the drive thru.

Witnesses say the victim was arguing with someone in a different vehicle while in the drive-thru. After several words were exchanged, the suspect vehicle drove away. A short time later, while waiting for his food, the victim was shot while still in his car.

“We have several reports that there have been multiple shots that were fired. We can’t say exactly how many were fired at this time,” says Det. Sgt. Kyle Thiry, “As far as anybody going into the building or hurt inside the building, nobody’s been hurt inside the building. It’s just the one person that was in the drive thru.”

The victim had injuries to his thigh and lower abdominal area. He was unable to speak with detectives at the time of the shooting, but is expected to survive his injuries.
