Crews truck in water to fight early morning Burkhardt Road fire

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Evansville crews struggled to put out a fire early Wednesday morning in the 5400 block of Burkhardt Road.

The call came in just after 2 a.m. as a detached garage on fire.

When crews arrived, they had trouble getting water to their hoses, and ended up having to truck water in from several blocks away.

The fire spread to the main house on the property, several vehicles and a camper.

A home next door was also damaged from the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Red Cross has been called in to assist the families of the two homes involved.
