A ribbon cutting is being held for a new parking lot at Haynie’s Corner.
It’s seen as one of the last big pieces in the city’s redevelopment efforts in the area.
The parking lot features more than 40 spaces and is located at the corner of Washington and Parrett Streets near Bokeh Lounge.
The lot was built with a unique, pourous material that absorbs rain water.
Officials say it could keep up to one million gallons of storm water from ending up in the sewers every year.
The project was partially funded through federal grants and Water & Sewer Utility rebates.
The event takes place at 5 p.m. Friday.
