Darren Bailey to run for Illinois State Senate

CLAY COUNTY, Ill. (WEHT) – Illinois State Representative Darren Bailey will be running for the 55th State Senate District seat in 2020.

Bailey made the announcement Monday.

A farmer from Clay County, he’s looking to claim the seat incumbent State Senator Dale Righter currently holds.

Righter announced earlier this year he is not seeking re-election in November 2020.

Bailey was elected to his first term as a state representative in November 2018.

The primary election will be in March 2020.
