Daviess Co. fire chief retires

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – A Daviess County Fire Chief is retiring after several decades protecting the community.

Daviess County Fire Chief Dwane Smeathers says he’s stepping down at the end of August.

He’s been the Chief for the past 10 years and spent 30 years with the department.

Smeathers says it was the right time to retire. He also says county officials already started the search for his replacement and are doing interviews.
