A pre-trial release officer in Daviess County was arrested on Wednesday and charged with promoting contraband, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, and trafficking a controlled substance.

The investigation into 32-year-old Jason Stubblefield began on Monday.

Daviess County Chief Deputy Ken Ehlschide says a male inmate was still meeting with Stubblefield although he was past the stage in his case where he should have been meeting with a pre-trial release officer. This sparked the investigation.

A warrant was filed and acted on Wednesday.

That’s when officers say they found the synthetic cannabinoid on Stubblefield.

Investigators say he intended to give it to the inmate. Investigators also say Stubblefield and the inmate had an intimate relationship.

A pre-trial officer typically interviews new arrestees and works with bonds.

Pre-trial officers are officers of the court.
