DAVIESS CO., Ky (WEHT) The coronavirus pandemic has cancelled graduation plans for most graduating high school seniors. So high schools are having to improvise.
Daviess County Public Schools say they will delay in-person graduation ceremonies until such a time as restrictions on large public gatherings are lifted. The district does have plans for in-person graduation ceremonies and remains committed to hosting these important milestone celebrations for the Class of 2020.
In the meantime, all three DCPS high schools are proceeding with modified ceremonies that will provide an opportunity for graduates to receive their diplomas.
AHS, DCHS and HPHS students will be contacted early next week with assigned times to arrive at their high schools to receive their diplomas. Students will arrive in vehicles only with members of their immediate households and will have the opportunity to be photographed and videotaped at designated areas with special backdrops. Drone footage will also be taken. Photographs and video footage will be compiled and shared with families at a later date.
- Daviess County High School – Approximately 380 seniors will return to DCHS at designated times between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 15. DCHS is located at 4255 New Hartford Road.
