DAVIESS CO., Ky (WEHT) – Daviess County small businesses had to order more supplies of N95-type filtered masks for qualifying businesses.
The Daviess County Fiscal Court received a limited number of N-95 masks earlier this month, which quickly ran out.
The county ordered up to 10,000 N-95 filtered masks for small businesses with 50 or fewer workers.
Judge Executive Al Mattingly says there’s a high demand for the masks from business owners as some health care offices are allowed to reopen this week.
“People who wear masks are actually protecting the people around them in case they are atypical or they are a carrier and are exhibiting no symptoms because the masks protect the aerosol from when you sneeze or cough from going out into the public,” Mattingly said.
Daviess County Fiscal Court Clerk Jenni Warren says efforts will continue to try to obtain and make available any additional masks. Once secured, efforts will be sent out again.
