DCHS postpones giving out diplomas

DAVIESS CO., Ky (WEHT) Daviess County High School had to reschedule handing out diplomas, but this time it’s not due to COVID-19.

Due to the threat of inclement weather, including potentially severe thunderstorms, DCHS has rescheduled their diploma distribution programs honoring members of the Class of 2020.

Diplomas will now be given out on Monday, May 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It was originally scheduled for May 15.

Daviess County Public Schools announce graduation plans

Seniors and families will receive specific information regarding their scheduled times of arrival, staging areas and other details.

Apollo and Heritage Park high schools are monitoring weather forecasts and will make a final decision and announcement on Thursday afternoon regarding whether their diploma distribution plans can go forward as currently scheduled on Saturday, May 16.

In responding to local, state and federal guidelines regarding safety precautions relating to Covid-19, DCPS has delayed in-person graduation ceremonies until such a time as restrictions on large public gatherings are lifted.

  • Daviess County High School – Approximately 380 seniors will return to DCHS at designated times between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 18. DCHS is located at 4255 New Hartford Road.
  • Heritage Park High School – A final decision regarding diploma distribution plans will be announced on Thursday, May 14.
  • Apollo High School – A final decision regarding diploma distribution plans will be announced on Thursday, May 14.
