DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) The Daviess County Public School board voted Thursday night to take legal action against e-cigarette makers.
The group approved a resolution to join a lawsuit started by other Kentucky school districts. The suit calls on companies to stop marketing towards students. Officials say they’ve noticed more students using e-cigs or vaping devices.
“Basically, the problem with vaping and electronic cigarettes has become a real issue in many districts across Kentucky. It has been an issue and a problem in Daviess County, and it’s a detriment to the welfare of our students, and the education process,” says Dr. Tom Payne, chair of the Daviess Co. Public School Board.
Owensboro Public School officials are scheduled to vote on the same issue at their next meeting scheduled for next Thursday.
