School officials in Daviess County Public Schools are putting in a new emergency notification system to use to keep kids safe.
DCPS started using Active 911, which notifies them of emergency situations near schools, allowing them to decide whether to put a school on lockdown.
The system has been in place since last fall.
Sheriff’s deputies say it’s working well so far, but they’re looking to expand alerts to after school hours.
School officials say they’ve received 155 notifications since they started using the app last November.
