PHILPOT, Ky. (WEHT) — A Daviess County man is facing drug-related charges after his house burns down and authorities find drugs inside.

The fire happened on Free Silver Road, not far from St. William’s Catholic Church in Philpot, around 10 Tuesday night.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says 53-year-old Darrin Gerteisen told them he only had two marijuana plants inside that he’d harvested.

Deputies say they also found meth and drug paraphernalia.

The house is a total loss.

Firefighters say they don’t believe the fire is related to drug activity in the house.
