Local News

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – An Evansville man is facing charges after deputies said he was driving drunk and tried to drive into high water with a child in his van Saturday.

Deputies were in the area of Mesker Park Drive and Folz Road around 11:30 p.m. blocking access to the area because of high water.

According to a report, 36-year-old Joshua Bowen attempted to drive around law enforcement and through the high water.

Deputies stopped Bowen and said he smelled like alcohol and saw open alcohol containers in the van. Deputies also said there was a juvenile in the van at the time.

According to a report, Bowen told deputies he drank six beers and three glasses of homemade wine.

We’re told Bowen was given a breath test at the jail which showed a blood alcohol content of .161.

He has since been released from the Vanderburgh County Jail.
