UTICA, Ky, (WEHT) – A Utica man was arrested Tuesday after deputies say he shot at his neighbor’s home. The Daviess County Sheriff Office says deputies responded to the 3900 block of Ronnie Lake Road for a firearm discharge.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies discovered a gunshot through a glass door of the home. Three people were inside the home when the incident happened. We’re told one person was struck by a glass shard, but refused medical treatment.
The homeowner told deputies her neighbor, Richard Yeckering, 68, had been outside shooting his gun the entire morning for “target practice”.

The family says 8-year-old Paisley was sitting on the couch eating waffles when she spilled some syrup. She got up to clean the mess, when a bullet flew through the home, just feet away from her. Her mother was in the other room when she she heard gun shots and glass break.
“And then the next thing I know I hear something. And I knew, I knew what it was. And like, my immediate thought was that she had been… that it got her,” says Heather Vanover, the child’s mother. “That was my immediate thought. And so, I hollered out her name. I said, ‘Paisley!’ And she said, ‘Momma! There’s a gun shot.'”
Vanover tells us after they got to a safe spot in the house, they could still hear gunshots outside.
Deputies say once they found Yeckering, they also located a semi-automatic handgun and several spent rounds. He was arrested and charged with three counts of wanton endangerment.
