Dispatch releases 911 call where authorities say wife admits to stabbing husband

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An Evansville woman is being held without bond, facing murder charges in connection with her husband’s death.

Wendy Owen Payne, 51, is being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail.

Authorities said she called dispatch Saturday evening, saying she stabbed her husband, 60-year-old Edward Payne.

That 911 call was released on Monday.

When police arrived on scene, they said they found Wendy in the backyard covered in blood.

She was transferred to the sheriff’s operation center for questioning where she requested a lawyer.

Wendy is set to appear in court Wednesday morning.
