An Evansville man, accused of driving drunk and hitting a man walking on the side of the road, is sentenced Thursday.
Connor Dant pleaded guilty to causing death while driving under the influence in September. He was sentenced to two years home detention and two years probation. His driver’s license will be suspended for 30 months.
The victim’s family was in favor of this plea deal and did not want Dant to go to prison.
In February, authorities say Dant was driving on Upper Mount Vernon Road when he hit pedestrian Darrell Asbridge.
Court documents show Dant stopped the car right away and called 911.
Asbridge died the next day.
Investigators say Dant’s blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit.
