Dubois Co. woman faces charges after police say she tried buying firearm illegally

DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – A Dubois County woman has turned herself in after police say she tried to buy a firearm illegally.

Mary Ann McRoberts is charged with a providing false information on ATF for a weapon/instrument of violence.

According to Indiana State Police, McRoberts went to an area business and tried to buy two handguns, but it was denied on a background check.

Police say McRoberts had a prior conviction on her criminal history that prevented her from having firearms.

ISP says she gave false information on the 4473 form, which is a felony offense.

A warrant was issued for her and she turned herself into the jail.

McRoberts was being held in the Dubois County Jail, but has since bonded out.
