EFD responds to house fire on North Elsas Ave.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Evansville firefighters responded to a house fire on Sunday evening.

It happened around 5 p.m. in the 1300 block of North Elsas Ave.

When crews arrived, there was heavy fire blowing out of the side of the home.

The person who lived there was already outside on the porch.

Officials said the fire appeared to have started in the kitchen.

Crews were able to rescue a dog.

The home is a duplex.

The other side of the building has smoke damage.
