Ellis Park Racing responds to racehorse drugging scheme

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT)-More than two dozen people have been charged with giving racehorses performance-enhancing drugs to help them win prize money at races.

While Ellis Park is not part of the drugging scheme, officials expressed their sadness to hear that crimes like this had been committed within their sport.

According to an indictment, the illegal doping scheme covered races in Kentucky, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Ohio and even stretched overseas.

Horse trainers, veterinarians, and drug distributors are accused of misleading government agencies by disguising banned drugs with misleading labels.
