Henderson, KY. – (WEHT) Ellis Park is in the opening stages of a massive renovation project set to cost 55 million dollars. The park, which was bought by Laguna Development Corporation in June, is set to undergo major improvements over the next two years.
Ellis Park has already seen improvements in things such as new air conditioners, a new water treatment plant, and improvements to the barn spaces on the backside of the track. Phases two and three are set to bring further renovations, including covered parking spaces, lights on the track for twilight racing, and even a hotel.
“The overall goal of our renovations is to bring Ellis Park back to it’s former glory, but we want to bring some things that are new. We want to bring some things that are new and exciting. We have covered parking, we have 800 units of gaming coming, and we have a few surprises that we’re not gonna share right now that we really think is really going to resonate in this area. We’ve done a lot of things that really don’t seem apparent, but we’ve added additional air conditioning, we’ve replaced the water plant, we’ve done a number of things to the infrastructure just to give our customers a better experience. So we have a lot of things coming up in the intermediate future that’s really going to be exciting for the property,” said new General Manager Jeff Inman.
The park is set to begin phase two renovations next week.
