EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Evansville Police Department announced on Wednesday that a man has been charged with a November shooting where a bullet entered a nearby vehicle and injured one of the occupants.

Khirrek Morris faces charges of criminal recklessness, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and criminal mischief to a vehicle.

The shooting happened on November 1 in the 600 block of Canal St., near Memorial Baptist Church.

Officers believe Morris fired a gun during a dispute.

One of the rounds entered the victim’s SUV through the front windshield.

Three people were in the SUV, including a toddler.

The victim had non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Prior arrest

Morris was arrested in an unrelated case on November 8.

Morris faces five counts of child molesting charges in that case.

Police said the 20-year-old Morris met with a minor at her home and they had sex at least three times.

The mother of the victim told police she found Morris hiding under the bed one night.
