EPD: Man took Xanax, crashes car with baby inside

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An Evansville man was arrested after a crash with a baby in the car.
Two officers were sent to a single vehicle accident Friday.

Officials said a car hit the median on State Road 62 east of Governor Street.

Officers said they found 21 year old Christian Thomas behind the wheel slumped over and drooling, and that a person who witnessed the accident told dispatch they thought Thomas had seizure.

We’re told there was a baby in the car at the time of the crash.

According to a report, Thomas admitted to taking Xanax earlier that day. He was taken to the hospital.

Police said the child was not injured and was released to the mother.

He was arrested for neglect of a dependent and operating a vehicle while under the influence. We’re told Thomas did take a drug test and it was sent to the ISP State Lab to be tested.
