EPD: Man wanted for home detention escape led police on chase

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Evansville police arrested 24-year-old Alexander Schnarre on Tuesday morning, after they said he fled from officers.

Police said the incident began when smoke was seen coming from a car parked in the alley of the 900 block of S. Garvin.

According to police, Schnarre refused to get out of his car or to identify himself.

After police said they told him to exit his car several times, Schnarre drove away.

Police said he hit a marked police car in the process.

He then continued to drive away for about two miles before running away on foot, police said.

Schnarre was arrested in the 500 block of Lewis Ave. near Walnut St., authorities said.

According to EPD, Schnarre was wanted for escape from home detention.

He’s charged with battery with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement, hit and run, narcotics possession, and several other offenses.
