EPD: Meth May Be Factor in Morning Fire

Local News

Investigators say meth may be involved in an early morning fire.

Evansville Fire Department says it responded to a fire in the 700 block of East Columbia Street around 2:00 a.m. Thursday.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they say the front porch and front room were engulfed in flames. However, crews tell us they tapped out the fire in less than 20 minutes.

One person was hurt and taken to a local hospital. We have no word yet on their condition.

Evansville Police Department tells Eyewitness News it is looking into the possibility meth could have been a factor.

Officers say they are questioning a person in the investigation.
