EPD Motorcycle Officer Hurt in Crash

Police identify the officer involved in the crash as Officer Allen Gansman.

Police say Officer Gansman had the emergency lights active on his motorcycle while he was helping the stalled car. Police say a car east bound on Diamond hit the motorcycle, propelling the bike into Officer Gansman.

Police say he was able to speak both at the scene and at the hospital. Officer Gansman suffered several broken bones in his legs and will have surgery Tuesday. But he is expected to be OK.

We’re told the investigation is on-going– and no further information will be released at this time.


Police say an officer was struck by a car while helping a stalled car.

The officer and two people inside the stalled car were taken to Deaconess. All lanes of Diamond are shut down between St. Joe & Kratzville.

Crews are currently on the scene of a traffic accident near Diamond Ave. and Kratzville, reportedly involving a police officer.

The involved officer is reportedly being transported to Deaconess Hospital.

Dispatch in Vanderburgh Co. says Diamond Ave. is closed from St. Joe to Kratzville due to the accident.

On the scene, Eyewitness News is hearing it could take several hours before the road is opened back up.
