EPD officer, driver injured following crash on city’s east side

Update (7:44 p.m.)

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An Evansville Police Officer and a pickup truck driver have been injured following a crash on the city’s east side.

It happened at the intersection of Bellemeade Avenue and Alvord Boulevard.

The officer was responding to a shoplifting complaint and driving southbound on Alvord Blvd approaching Bellemeade.

Witnesses told police they saw the red and blue emergency lights flashing on the marked SUV but didn’t hear a siren.

Due to concussion-like symptoms, the officer has not been able to recall specifics about the crash and is unsure what what emergency equipment was being used.

The dash camera footage will be reviewed to see what emergency equipment was active at the time of the crash.

Police say the officer collided with the truck at the intersection. The truck was traveling east on Bellemeade.

Both vehicles have significant damage.

Anyone who witnessed the crash that has not spoken with police is asked to contact EPD.

This is an ongoing investigation.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Evansville Police officer taken to hospital following an accident on the city’s east side.

There was an accident involving an EPD SUV and a pickup truck near the intersection of Bellemeade and Alvord in Evansville.

We’re told the officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

And they say the driver was possibly showing signs of impairment.

There’s an accident involving an Evansville Police SUV and a pickup truck at the intersection of Lincoln and Alvord in Evansville.

Police are still trying to figure out how the accident happened.

This is on the eastside of Evansville.

The Evansville Police SUV is being towed away.

It’s unclear if there are any injuries.
