Police alert mother of missing Henderson woman of body found in Evansville

Update (10:15 p.m.):

Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear says an autopsy is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Lockyear says there is no additional information available at this time.

Update (7:20 p.m.): 

The mother of Monika Roberts, a missing Henderson woman, confirms to Eyewitness News that police have alerted her that a body was found in Evansville.

Update (6:20 p.m.):

The Evansville Police Department says nothing else was found after sweeping the house.

Police say the body was found in the back/side yard area.

Update (5:50 p.m.): 

Officers are now searching the back of the house.

 

Update (5:45 p.m.):

Officers on scene have not confirmed if the body was found inside or outside the house.

Police say they cannot at this time determine if the body is male or female.

Original Story:

Evansville police are on the scene of an active death investigation.

Police are at a house on south New York Ave., where a body was reportedly found.

Officers responded around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The house appears to be vacant, but officers are investigating and talking to neighbors.
