EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The mother of an infant found dead in Evansville has been arrested. That’s according to the Evansville Police Department.
Police tell Eyewitness News 32-year-old Chelsea Marksberry was arrested in connection to the death.
Police are still looking for the father, 28-year-old Jacob Wesley Bengert.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Police held a press conference Thursday to provide an update on a case involving a deceased infant.
Police are looking for the infant’s father, 28-year-old Jacob Wesley Bengert.
Bengert was last seen wearing a blue New England Patriots shirt, black jogging pants, and black and green Nike shoes.
Police said they want to emphasize the heinousness of the crime being investigated, calling it ‘disturbing’ and ‘very graphic.’
Law enforcement asks anyone who sees Bengert to contact law enforcement.
Authorities don’t believe Bengert has access to a vehicle.
However, police said he does have a permit to carry a gun so he could be armed.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – On Thursday, first responders were called to the 1300 block of E Illinois about an unresponsive infant.
When authorities arrived, they said it was obvious the infant was dead.
Officers gathered information from the mother, but police said the father left before they arrived.
The police department is looking for the father, 28-year-old Jacob Wesley Bengert.
Bengert is believed to be on foot.
He may be suicidal and could possibly be armed, officers said.
Anyone who sees him is encouraged to call 911.
