EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Evansville Police say a woman found a sex offender shirtless in her backyard.

Police were called to the home in the 1300 block of North Elliott Street for suspicious circumstances.

EPD says the woman found a man wearing khaki shorts, no shirt, and a baseball hat in her fenced in backyard.

According to the police report, the woman confronted the man, who told her someone tried to break into her garage during the night. He also told the woman she shouldn’t walk around her house naked at night and if she does, to close her blinds.

The report states she told the suspect she doesn’t do that and to leave. Then she called 911.

Police found the man at the intersection of North Garvin and Florida Street.
The man is a lifetime sex offender and didn’t have any ID on him.

He’s lived in the Evansville area since April and hasn’t registered as a sex offender.

The man was taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail.

EPD has not released the man’s name.
