Evansville City Council elects new president

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – It’s a new year and there are new faces on the Evansville City Council.

During its first meeting of the new year Monday night, the council voted on its new leadership.

After a motion to elect Jonathan Weaver as its president failed, the council elected new-comer Alex Burton to serve as its president.

Jim Brinkmeyer, who served as the council’s president for two years, was elected the new vice-president.

Evansville attorney Josh Claybourn, who served as the council attorney last year, was voted to serve as attorney again for another year.
