EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Evansville City Council is expected to discuss proposed rules on using e-scooters in the city.

The ordinance requires users to obey all traffic laws, keeps them off area highways, and where they can be parked.

City Council Member Michelle Mercer will also introduce amendments including restricting use on the greenway, prohibit the use of cell phones while riding, and encourage the use of a helmet.

Other proposed amendments include requiring users to be at least 16-years-old with an active driver’s license.

The council is expected to discuss the amendments at Monday’s 5:30 p.m. council meeting.
