Evansville city pools will stay closed this summer

EVANSVILLE, Ind (WEHT) City pools, swim lessons and related activities will be closed through the 2020 season.

Deputy Mayor Steve Schaefer made the announcement Tuesday.

The parks department cited a shortage of certified lifeguards and the Indiana State Department of Health’s guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic.

City pools include Hartke Pool, Helfrich Pool, Lloyd Pool, Lorraine Pool, Mosby Pool, and Rochelle-Landers Pool.

Burdette Park has also said their pool will not reopen until 2021.
