EVANSVIlLE, Ind. (WEHT) Anchor Industries is shipping emergency relief tents across the country to provide medical professionals more locations to combat COVID-19.
Anchor creates temporary hospitals and pandemic screening stations at their facility in Evansville.
While their business is normally commercial products used for weddings, graduations, and sporting events, they are adapting their business during these difficult times.
“Commercial business which consists of graduations, weddings, conventions, PGA events, sporting events, all that business has been canceled. It hasn’t been postponed, it’s just been canceled. So we’ve found this emergency pandemic relief business is filling in the gaps,” Anchor Industries CEO Pete Mogavero said.
Anchor’s national presence has allowed it to ship emergency relief tents across the United States, including highly effected areas such as New York City, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.
Mogavero says the transition hasn’t been easy and it will have its economic effects on the business, but he says the employees are motivated to help.
“The folks that are in here working have a higher cause. This isn’t just making a tent for a wedding, now they know its for the pandemic,” Mogavero said.
Anchor Industries will be shipping out roughly one million dollars worth of temporary hospitals and pandemic screening stations in the next month.
The company is also producing face masks for first responders in Evansville free of charge.
