Stewart found guilty in connection with shooting of Antonio Bushrod Jr.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An Evansville jury announced a guilty verdict for Tanika Stewart in the murder case of Antonio Bushrod Jr. on Wednesday.

Stewart, 36, was accused of shooting and killing Bushrod Jr. in October of 2019.

According to the Courier and Press, Stewart’s defense team said the killing was self-defense after Bushrod lunged at her.

Police say an officer at the scene asked Stewart if she shot Bushrod. She told police yes and handed the officer the gun.

Her sentencing is set for January 30th.
