EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — An Evansville man was arrested on multiple charges of child pornography possession this week.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation began on Thursday after someone reported seeing what was believed to be images and video of child pornography on William Ray Martin’s cell phone.

The sheriff’s office said search warrants were obtained for Martin’s phone, electronic devices, and his residence on Old Boonville Highway.

Martin was taken into custody as he arrived from work.

According to the sheriff’s office, Martin declined to speak with detectives and asked for a lawyer.

When authorities reviewed his cell phone, they said multiple pornographic images and videos were discovered involving children under the age of 12.

The sheriff’s office said further examination of his phone and other items seized during the search is still being done.

Authorities said they do not suspect the child pornography was produced locally, and that there is no evidence at this time that Martin interacted personally with children in the videos.

However, the investigation is ongoing.

Martin faces 20 counts of possession of child pornography with aggravating factors, according to the sheriff’s office.
