EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — An Evansville man is in custody after a late-night police chase that ended in a crash.

The pursuit began just before 9:30 Wednesday night.

Indiana State Police say they found a man they were looking for in a vehicle south of Elberfeld.

Troopers say, after pulling the vehicle over off of Baseline Road, the driver, Levi Martin, sped off.

Troopers chased the car through several Vanderburgh County roads, and eventually deployed stop sticks, which deflated the driver’s-side tires.

Martin eventually ran off the road along Old State Road.

It took a police K-9 to eventually get Martin out of the vehicle.

Troopers say Martin, at one point, hit the animal with the car door.

Martin was taken into custody after being tased.

He was taken to an Evansville hospital for treatment.

He will be charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, Driving While Intoxicated, and Reckless Driving.
