An Evansville man, accused of setting a fire inside a home on Covert Ave., pleads guilty to arson on Monday morning.
30-year-old Shaun Mitchell was arrested in June. He was accused of starting a fire at a house in which the resident had been involved in a longstanding dispute with a business next door.
The standoff resulted from Porter allegedly threatening officers with a baseball bat after they attempted to question him about his alleged involvement in vandalism at O’Hair’s Happy Dog Day Care.
At the time of Mitchell’s arrest, officers said he had been drinking and that he was a “dog lover” who felt compelled to “burn it to the ground” in reference to the Porter home.
