An Evansville man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after a domestic dispute last year turned violent.
Tavon A. Burns, Sr. is accused of strangling a woman and then opening fire on a group of people on a porch.
This incident happened in the 1000 block of Madison Ave. on October 17, 2015.
In June, Burns pleaded guilty after his trial started.
His charges included attempted aggravated battery, attempted aggravated battery, unlawful possesion of a firearm by a serious violent felon, resisting law enforcement, theft of a firearm, and strangulation.
Burns also admitted to being a Habitual Offender, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
