Evansville (WEHT) – It’s National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.
It’s a week to honor those who are there for us in our worst times.
Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke read a proclamation for the dispatchers at the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Dispatch Center.
The mayor put on a dispatcher’s headphones to see what it’s like to answer emergency calls.
National Public Telecommunicators week officially began in 1981.
Mayor Winnecke stopped by Central Dispatch today to thank local dispatchers for their professionalism answering emergency calls and dispatching police, fire and ambulance runs, and to proclaim April 14-20 as National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week in the City of Evansville. pic.twitter.com/xDlQ9N6xIg— City of Evansville (@EvansvilleINGov) April 15, 2019
