With lots of rain possible in the next five days, Evansville officials are trying to prepare for flooding.
The Water and Sewer Department, Street Maintenance, and the City Engineer are asking for the public’s help.
The public is being asked to clear debris away from street inlets before the rain starts. If you see a clogged street inlet, officials are asking that residents remove the debris and clear the inlet.
Officials also warn that with the predicted amount of rain, drainage pipes may not be able to handle the volume so be careful when driving.
The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility will be operating at maximum capacity during the event.
If a home doesn’t have a check valve in place, water could back-up into a basement or floor drain.
Homeowners should constantly monit lower level drains, and if possible, block the drain with a towel to keep water from coming inside.
