From Pawnee to Evansville, the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is up for an award Ron Swanson would approve of.

The EVPL has been nominated for the Leslie Knope Award, which recognizes the most excellent library system in the country.

The award is based on the TV show “Parks and Recreation” and its character Leslie Knope.

Library officials have had fun campaigning for votes, as many of them are big fans of the hit show that is set in Indiana.

“As much as she hated libraries, she embodies what a library is, said EVPL’s Mallory Cloum. “We’re all about spreading ideas, we’re all about informing the public and providing that knowledge so as much fun as we’re having with this, it’s actually quite an honor to be nominated for an award named after Leslie.”
